Council Parking Charges Bombshell to Hit Tring

Gardner calls for Council to rethink 36% increase

Lib Dem run Dacorum Council is planning to drastically increase parking charges in Tring town centre. The plans will see increases of up to 36% an hour.

‘These charges will hit Tring like a bomb-shell’, said Nigel Gardner, Conservative Parliamentary candidate. ‘They are wrong for our town and will damage our High Street. We are in the middle of a cost of living crisis. They need to be scrapped’.

‘I’m calling on the Lib Dem council to rethink these draconian increases – and I’m happy to work with them to come up with better proposals.’

Under the Council proposals the free time-limited parking bays on the High Street will for the first time become chargeable, making short shopping stops more difficult.

Mike Hicks, former mayor of Tring and resident of the town for 40 years added, ‘These charges would have a negative effect on the High Street and traders. I simply don’t understand why Lib Dem councillors have supported them.’

Gardner added, ‘We need to support and nurture our town centre and make it as easy as possible for people to visit. These proposals do the opposite.’
