Stop the plan to double the size of Luton airport. I took our amazing local campaigners to meet with the Minister for Aviation and Transport Decarbonisation to make it crystal clear that the plan to double the size of Luton airport is bad for our local environment, means more noise, and more traffic especially on the Lower Luton Road and the M1. Crucially it makes net zero even harder to achieve. We really don’t want the equivalent of Gatwick airport on our doorsteps.

Support our High Streets. I’ve called out Council plans to axe pensioner parking permits in Harpenden, axe Redbourn’s free car park, and axe our free on-street parking in Tring and Harpenden. I believe we need to support and nurture our High Streets and make it as easy as possible for people to visit. Council plans do the opposite and I’ve called on our Lib Dem colleagues across the constituency to rethink these changes, and offered to work with them to come up with better proposals.
Oppose Starmer’s plan to slap VAT on independent school fees. I’ve met with school leaders from local private and state schools. They are worried that this ideological policy will hit not only local parents who sacrifice so much to pay for independent education, but will also increase pressure across our constituency on our top local state schools. And with private education a significant employer in our constituency, accounting for 600 jobs in Berkhamsted alone, I’m worried this Labour policy will be damaging to our local economy.
